In 2017, Chongqing Jiaotong University was approved by Chongqing Education Committee to set up theSchoolof Aeronautics, Chongqing Jiaotong University (No. 17 of Chongqing Education Planning Lette). In March 2018, the School Of Aeronautics, Chongqing Jiaotong University was officiallyestablished. The School addressed to the development of "specialization, differentiation, industrialization and internationalization", and focus on build four platforms of Chongqing aviation: personnel training, green aviation technology scientific research, aviation technology industry incubation and skills training, to improve the whole chain structure of Chongqing aviation.

Since its establishment, the School has been highly valued by the competent departments at all levels and widely interested by society. In 2018, two core majors have been set up:”Aeronautical Engineering” and “Aviation Propulsion Engineering”.To guide the whole process of personal training by professional guidance. The School has been approved to construct as “new type of secondary School in Chongqing”, which provides a solid foundation for the high-quality development of teaching, scientific research and personal training in the School.

The school will stand on the green aviation technology research and product development as the main line, through the way of "importing + training + hiring", the School vigorously imports high-level talents (projectleaders) and doctoral degree talents, focuses on training "dual-faculty and dual-ability " teachers, actively employs part-time teachers, andthen, a high-level team of full-time teachers, full-time and part-time combined teachers and excellent quality has been formed. At present, there are nearly 30 full-time teachers, of which 90% have senior professional titles or doctoral degrees.

Based on the construction of scientific research platforms such as academician expert workstation, Green Aviation Technology Research Institute, Chongqing Key Laboratory of Advanced Aviation Energy and Power, Chongqing Aero-Engine Department Accessory Test and Testing Center, and in combination with national strategy, aviation industry plan and regional development needs, the academy has steadily carried out discipline and specialty construction, scientifically formulated personnel training program, , the basic theory and key problems of advanced Green Aviation energy power system, advanced aviation energy power materials and intelligent manufacturing, advanced energy power aircraft are systematically studied around by general aviation, helicopters, UAVs and etc.

The School has carried out foreign cooperation: exchanges and joint course project with 12 foreign universities such as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Unite State of American, Swansea University of the United Kingdom, and actively participated in the professional activities with the International Air Transport Association and the International Civil Aviation Organization. It also participated in the professional activities with 13 enterprises such as China National Aviation Oil Group, Chongqing Liangjiang Aviation Industry Investment Group and Chongqing Zongshen Aero-Engine LtD.
